Statistics

Liposuction is the most popular cosmetic surgery procedure in America today, and not just among women. More males are having cosmetic surgery performed than ever before!

A study conducted by the American Society of Plastic Surgeons (ASPS) that provides statistics on procedures performed by member surgeons certified by the American Board of Plastic Surgery (ABPS), found the overall number of Liposuction procedures has increased by 200 percent over a five year span.   The number of males having facelifts in 1997 almost doubled the 1992 figures.  A recently reported study shows, in 1997 nearly 150,000 people had lipoplasty, commonly known as liposuction, more than tripling the number of liposuction patients in 1992.  It was also reported that liposuction, eyelid surgery, nose reshaping and facelift were, respectively, the most popular cosmetic procedures for men in 1997. Other than nose reshaping, each cosmetic procedure tracked in both 1992 and 1997 showed a marked increase for men over the five-year span, with liposuction more than tripling and facelifts nearly doubling. As of March 12, 1998 -- All cosmetic procedures tracked in 1997 by the American Society of Plastic Surgeons increased in number by at least 50 percent over the last five years, with breast augmentation and liposuction more than tripling.
